Gyanrush Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Gyanrush is run by Alok Kashyap, India ("we"). It is a study app that turns your syllabus into levels, quizzes and revision. This page explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and how to delete it. The short version: the app works fully without an account, and an account is optional. You can save anonymously, or sign in with Google so you can restore your progress on a new phone.

What stays on your device

Your progress is stored locally on your phone or browser: the courses you pick, your answers, XP, streak, bookmarks and settings. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app deletes it. You can export or reset it any time from Settings.

Optional account ("Save my progress" or "Continue with Google")

You can save your progress in either of two ways. "Save without sign-in" creates an anonymous account with no email address, phone number or password. "Continue with Google" signs you in with your Google account, and you can also add Google sign-in to an anonymous account later. You must confirm that you are 18 or older. Once saved, the app sends the following to our servers so your progress survives a new phone:

We use this only to run the app: scoring, streaks, revision schedules and fixing wrong questions. We do not use it for advertising and we never sell it. An anonymous account has no email, so it cannot be recovered if you lose the phone or choose to stop syncing. An account with Google sign-in can be restored on any phone by signing in again. Gyanrush's use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Ask Zo (study helper)

If you type a free-text question to Zo, the question and the relevant passages of our own study notes are sent to our language-model provider (Groq, whose servers are outside India, in the United States) to produce an answer. Do not type personal information into it. We do not save your questions or Zo's answers in our database; a recent answer may sit in server memory for up to 15 minutes so repeat questions are fast, and we only count how many questions each account asks per day to keep the service free for everyone. Groq handles what it receives under its own terms and privacy policy. Zo is an AI: it can be wrong, so check important facts against your notes and teachers. Zo is for people aged 18 and over, and you can report a bad answer from the app.

Where it is stored and who processes it

There is no advertising, no analytics service and no third-party tracker in the app. A small set of anonymous usage counters shown in Settings never leaves your device.

How long we keep it

Detailed answer history is kept for 90 days, after which it is reduced to daily totals per topic that contain no question text. Your profile, XP, streak and review schedule are kept until you delete your account.

Delete your data

Children

Gyanrush is meant for college students. Saving progress to an account is limited to people who confirm they are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Permissions on Android

The app asks for notification permission only if you turn on the daily reminder. It also uses internet access, vibration, and the ability to restart reminders after the phone reboots. It does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.

Your choices

Your rights under Indian law

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to erase it. We can act on a request when you give us the account identifier shown in Settings, Sync, or the Google email address you signed in with. Email us at the address below and we will reply within 30 days.

Terms

Using Gyanrush is also covered by the Terms of Use.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, we will update this page and the date above before the change ships.
